Venor Gamme: A Modern Take on Tradition for Year-Round Adventures

Venor Gamme: A Modern Take on Tradition for Year-Round Adventures

The Year-Round Tent Venor Gamme is an evolution of the traditional lavvo. Inspired by the simple design of turf huts, the Venor Gamme is a durable, year-round tent with a solid construction.

The History of the Turf Hut

The gamme, or goahti in Northern Sami, is an ancient form of dwelling. Often associated with the Sami people, it has been used by various groups across Norway throughout history. Most people associate the gamme with the turf hut, which has a wooden frame covered with layers of turf or soil.

Turf huts were used year-round as family homes in Sami regions. Typically, they consisted of a single room with a fireplace in the center. In some cases, larger gamme structures with multiple rooms were built, such as when space was needed for livestock.

To construct a turf hut in the traditional way, a wooden frame is erected first. Alder branches and turf are then layered from the base to the top of the structure. The alder acts as a moisture barrier, while the turf provides insulation. Building a turf hut required significant labor and physical effort, but once completed, it could last for decades with proper maintenance.

Venor Gamme

The Venor Gamme is a modern interpretation of the traditional turf hut. This year-round tent features a rounded design and a self-supporting structure, making it highly stable in strong winds and challenging weather conditions. It is equipped with a robust aluminum frame and user-friendly click connections. When set up, the gamme offers a spacious interior, specifically designed for Nordic conditions and compatible with tent stoves.

Some might describe the Venor Gamme as the closest you can get to a portable cabin, and that’s an apt description. While retaining the circular floor plan of the lavvu, the Venor Gamme’s walls are nearly vertical. This provides full standing height throughout the tent and optimizes interior space. There’s plenty of room for camp beds, chairs, and tables without feeling cramped. Inside the gamme, it’s warm and cozy—a perfect retreat after a long day outdoors.

Venor Gamme is locally produced and manufactured in Norway, ensuring both quality and the reliability of a sturdy, safe product. Rooted in tradition and built on generations of experience, the Venor Gamme combines high-quality craftsmanship with a connection to the past. Its unique self-supporting structure ensures remarkable stability in strong winds and extreme weather.

With the Venor Gamme as your basecamp, you can rest assured that you’ll stay dry, safe, and warm in every season. It’s an excellent foundation for unforgettable adventures and experiences in nature.
