Frequently Asked Questions

General questions

Can you install lavvos and gammes for us?

Yes, we’d be happy to do that. Contact us for an installation quote.

Is impregnation service available for lavvos and gammes?

No, unfortunately, we are not able to do that at the moment. However, we do sell impregnation products so you can apply it yourself.

Is it possible to have a window in the tent ?

Yes. We can customize each tent upon order, so we can add windows in both the roof and walls to suit your preferences and needs.

What type of ground surface is required for setting up the products?

Our products can be placed directly on the ground. Alternatively, some customers choose to build a platform for the tent to stand on. Platforms are often built by customers who plan to keep the tent in a fixed location year-round.

Is the VAT included in the price?

We prioritize a seamless shopping experience for our customers. That’s why we use DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) for our deliveries. With DDP, all taxes, customs duties, and import fees are included in your purchase. This means your order will be delivered directly to your doorstep without any additional charges or paperwork on your end.

Venor Gamme

Can you set up a Venor Gamme on your own?

Yes, it is possible to set up a Venor Gamme on your own, but it can be a bit challenging since the tent is quite large and requires some effort to get it in place. We recommend having at least one other person to help with the installation and ensure that all parts are correctly assembled and tensioned. If you're used to setting up larger tents, it might be possible to do it alone, but to make the process smoother and safer, it's a good idea to have a second person.

Is it possible to make a fire in the Venor Gamme?

No, the Venor Gamme is only intended for heating with a stove.

Do you need a pipe passage in the Venor Gamme?

No, you can choose not to have a pipe passage. However, all pipe passages come with caps so you can close the opening.

Can you have more than one pipe passages in Venor Gamme?

Yes, we can easily do that. Contact us and we'll arrange it.

Can you get a custom pipe passage?

Yes, we can customize the pipe passage to any diameter you prefer. Contact us. The standard diameter for the pipe passage in our gammes is 95 mm.

Can I choose the placement of windows, vents, and pipe passage?

Yes, you can! We customize the product according to your preferences for the number and placement of windows, vents, and stove pipe passages. Contact us by phone or email, and we’ll tailor the tent to meet your needs.

Can you build a fire in a Venor Lavvo?

Yes, you can. Just remember to remove the stove lid if you plan to use an open fire as a heat source. The easiest way to do this is before assembling the lavvo.

Is it possible to get a custom pipe passage?

Can you use a camp bed in the Venor Lavvo?

Yes, it is perfectly fine to use camp beds in our lavvus. However, keep in mind that using camp beds will reduce the number of overnight guests the lavvu can accommodate, as they take up more floor space compared to sleeping directly on the ground. Check out our illustrations under the tent descriptions for more details.

Can you have windows in the Venor Lavvo?

Yes, you can choose between panoramic, trapezoidal, and square windows. This is a custom option, and you will need to contact us via email or phone to place an order.

Venor Tradisjonell Lavvo

Can you set up a Venor Traditional Lavvo on your own?

Yes, you can set up the Venor Traditional Lavvo 4-6, 8-10, and 12-14 by yourself. For the Venor Traditional Lavvo 15-20 and 25-30, we recommend 2-3 people for assembly. We also recommend using a ladder when setting up any size.

Why is the inner fabric in the Venor Tradisjonell Lavvo half-height?

The inner fabric is designed to allow airflow to the fire. When using a fire, we recommend lifting the outer fabric at strategic points around the lavvo. The inner fabric can rest fully on the ground. This setup enables air to flow into the lavvo between the outer and inner fabrics, helping the smoke rise and exit the lavvo efficiently.

Can aluminum poles be used for the Venor Tradisjonell Lavvo?

Yes, aluminum poles can be used for sizes up to 15-20. However, we recommend using wooden poles, as the fabric fits and looks best when assembled with wooden poles.

Which door solution is best for the traditional lavvu?

We don't have a strong recommendation, as each solution has its own advantages. If you find it difficult to choose a door solution, feel free to give us a call, and we can assess it together with you. If you want a lavvu that can be sealed, we recommend a zipper, though it may slightly compromise the traditional appearance.

Can the Venor Tradisjonell Lavvo stay outside year-round?

Yes, with regular maintenance throughout the year, the traditional lavvo can stay outside year-round. Be sure to brush off the lavvo during heavy snowfall. Re-impregnate the lavvo as needed, which can be done while the lavvo is turned upside down. The lifespan of the lavvo will vary depending on the climate. Our experience shows that lavvos that are set up year-round tend to have a shorter lifespan near the coast compared to inland areas.

Can you have a stove in the Venor Tradisjonell Lavvo?

Yes, with additional modifications to the rain cap, you can have a stove inside the lavvo.

Maintenance and Warranty

How long is the warranty on gammes and lavvos?

All private customers receive a 5-year warranty on manufacturing defects.

What maintenance is required?

We recommend annual or every other year re-impregnation, and possibly annual cleaning. There are large local variations from place to place, and the intervals depend on this as well as how much you use the tent.

Can you handle the maintenance yourself?

You can do all the maintenance yourself.

Should the lavvo/gamme be packed down after each season, or can it stay outside all year?

The lavvo and gamme are designed to withstand being outside year-round, but we recommend taking them down when not in use, especially during extended periods of inactivity.

Facilities

Is it common to have facilities for cooking and toilets in a lavvo or gamme?

There is space for cooking facilities, and we can assist with tips and products if needed. Essentially, we do not provide a built-in toilet facility within the tent itself, but we can customize an "extension" for this purpose. We also manufacture a separate WC-Lavvo intended for use with a camping toilet.

What heating source do you recommend?

We offer a variety of stove solutions, including wood, gas, and oil heaters. We prefer to conduct a needs analysis with our customers before recommending anything specific. Feel free to contact us, and together we will find the best solution for you.

I'm wondering about insulation, how does it work and do I need it?

For insulation, we offer inner fabric/inner tents for all our products. The inner fabric creates an air pocket between the outer and inner layers, providing insulation. We have many customers who use this solution in winter conditions down to -30°C. If you're unsure whether you need inner fabric, feel free to contact us, and we can clarify this in a conversation.

Weather conditions

The weather is very harsh at our campsite, especially with rain and wind. During winter, there are often storms, and we have even experienced hurricane-strength winds. How do the products hold up in terms of wind, rain, and snow?

Venor Gamme can withstand greater forces than light winds. It is crucial that the tents are securely fastened to the ground and well-pinned. We have many customers in tourism and schools/daycare where the tents are set up year-round, and we often receive feedback that the tents have survived storms. We find that humid winter climates are the most challenging for the tents. If the tents are left standing for long periods with the fabric constantly damp and cold, condensation can form. In the worst case, this can cause water to seep through if the fabric is perpetually wet. If you plan to set up a campsite in areas with extreme weather conditions, we recommend reaching out so we can discuss this further.

How strong of a storm can the tents withstand?

Our tents can withstand extremely strong storms. Venor Gamme, in particular, has been tested in some of the harshest weather conditions. We have customers who have left their Venor Gamme standing in winds exceeding 40 meters per second without any damage, as well as snowfall so heavy that only the poles are visible. This assumes the tent is properly set up, guyed, and firmly anchored to the ground.
