ÁRRAN 360° is a hybrid of indigenous storytelling and innovative technology. It is the first project to present six original 360-degree films by six leading Sámi filmmakers and artists from Sápmi. The films are showcased in the world’s largest purpose-built lavvo, equipped with a 28-meter-long screen. This is a spectacular project that combines Sámi storytelling with high-tech elements. It offers an exciting mix of traditions, all unfolding within a lavvo, but with new technology and modern storytelling formats.

Árran is a Northern Sami term for the hearth inside a lavvo, where storytelling around the fire has been a tradition for generations. With the ÁRRAN 360° project, we invite audiences from all over the world to experience the power and beauty of our unique visual storytelling heritage.

This groundbreaking project was developed by the International Sami Film Institute (ISFI) in collaboration with the Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA) and the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI). Arctic Lavvo had the honor of contributing as the producer and supplier of the lavvo used in the project.

ÁRRAN 360° made its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2022, followed by its first presentation in Sápmi during the Tromsø International Film Festival in 2023. This project introduces a fresh and innovative way to share Sami tales, myths, and lifestyles. We are proud to be part of such a unique and meaningful project, showcasing the richness of Sami culture through modern technology and tradition.
